AI Research Engineer

About the internship: Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include: 1. Read and actively track relevant research papers, technical blogs, and open-source releases, and develop your own judgment about what is genuinely useful versus what is merely hype, rather than simply following trends. 2. Turn promising ideas from research papers, your own hypotheses, or adjacent fields into working implementations that can be tested, not just summarized. 3. Design experiments with a clear hypothesis and well-defined success criteria, especially when no existing benchmark is available. 4. Build the infrastructure experiments need, including data pipelines, evaluation harnesses, and ablation setups, so you can iterate quickly instead of rebuilding from scratch each time. 5. Write clean, reliable implementation code, as engineering quality is just as important as the research idea for producing trustworthy results. 6. Identify promising ideas and develop them further, while recognizing when to discontinue unproductive directions instead of investing unnecessary time. 7. Take successful prototypes or notebook experiments toward production-ready solutions, or document them thoroughly so others can build upon them. 8. Document what you tried, what worked, what didn't, and why. Negative results are valuable outcomes and should be recorded rather than discarded. 9. Develop a deep understanding of how transformer-based models work, including attention mechanisms, tokenization, and context handling, instead of treating them as black boxes. 10. Explore the design of agentic systems, including how they plan, use tools, and chain reasoning steps, and apply those concepts to the solutions you build.
