Title: Java / IBM Sterling B2B Developer Location: Hybrid – Reston, VA Employment Type: Contract (12+ months, possible T2P) Openings: 1
Interview Process: Video → Onsite/F2F in Reston, VA
Work Environment: Remote, with 1x per month onsite meetings in Reston, VA or Washington DC. Must be willing to participate in off-hours production support as needed.
Strong Java/JEE development with IBM Sterling B2B (SI/SFG/Connect Direct), BPML/ITX, EDI/Integration mapping, Shell/UNIX scripting, Spring frameworks, REST/SOAP, production support, and team leadership; AWS/Big Data experience is a plus.
Job Description
Senior Java / IBM Sterling B2B Developer with strong production support experience. The role focuses on maintaining and supporting existing IBM Sterling B2B processes, troubleshooting production issues, and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Production support and maintenance of IBM Sterling Integrator, File Gateway, Connect Direct processes.
Develop, configure, and maintain EDI business processes using BPML, ITX, AI Mapper, Mailboxes, and service/adapter configurations .
Trading partner setup, AS2 communications, and SAP partner profile management.
Develop and support Java-based applications using Java 8+, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Hibernate, MyBatis .
Work with RESTful/SOAP web services, UNIX environment, and shell scripting.
Collaborate with architects, technical leads, and business stakeholders.
Mentor junior resources and enforce development best practices.
Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, and documentation.
Required Skills & Experience:
6+ years' experience with IBM Sterling B2B Products (Integrator, File Gateway, Connect Direct).
Expert in BPML, ITX, and EDI mapping (XML, Flat Files, SQL, SAP IDOC).
Production support experience in enterprise B2B environments.
Hands-on Java/JEE development experience.
Familiarity with Big Data or AWS is a plus.
Knowledge of DevOps tools (Jenkins) and UI frameworks (jQuery, AJAX).
Healthcare IT/EDI knowledge ( HIPAA X12 transactions – 837, 834, 270, 276 ) preferred.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.
