Lead SME – Finance Systems Technology (Insurance Industry)
About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) to bridge Finance and Technology teams during a major transformation initiative within the insurance industry. This role focuses on system integration, data flow, error handling, and process alignment across finance platforms.
As an APEX Super User , the SME will play a critical role in evaluating system enhancements, troubleshooting issues, leading testing, and supporting data migration to SAP S/4HANA and related tools. This role requires a strong combination of technical systems knowledge and finance expertise to ensure successful adoption and optimization of new processes and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the liaison between Finance and Technology teams to ensure accurate system integration and data flow.
Evaluate and recommend system enhancements to improve finance platform functionality and efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve system and process errors to ensure operational continuity.
Lead testing activities during the S/4HANA transformation to validate configurations and data accuracy.
Support data migration efforts, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment with business requirements.
Partner with stakeholders to ensure business readiness and adoption of S/4HANA and other finance technology tools.
Document processes, provide training, and contribute to change management initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of experience in finance systems, accounting, or controllership roles.
Insurance industry experience required ; experience with life insurance operations preferred.
Strong understanding of SAP FICO and experience with SAP R/3 or ECC migrations to S/4HANA .
Hands-on expertise with system integration, data migration, and testing in large-scale finance transformations.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to bridge technical and business teams.
Experience supporting change management and user adoption efforts.
Contract Details
Location: Boston or Springfield, MA (US-based candidates only)
Duration: Dec 2025 – Aug 2026 (with potential extension)
