Senior Backend Developer

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, cloud-native web applications. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Node.js, AWS Lambda, and Python, with strong fundamentals in serverless architecture, RESTful API development, and AWS ecosystem services. This role requires the ability to work independently while delivering high-quality solutions and collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.

Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, well-tested backend applications with Node.js, Python, and AWS as the core stack. Develop and maintain AWS Lambda functions, leveraging serverless and cloud-native AWS services to build scalable, resilient architectures. Write and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with enterprise backend systems. Serve as a technical reference for backend development best practices across the team. Follow best practices across the full SDLC, including unit testing, performance tuning, and secure coding standards. Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to standards. Utilize CI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, testing, and deployments. Perform technical analysis by evaluating systems, identifying problems, and formulating effective solutions. Communicate progress, risks, and issues to management in a timely manner. Stay current with evolving technologies, industry trends, and internal architecture standards, including emerging GenAI tooling where applicable.

Required Skills & Experience

The right candidate will have 8+ years of relevant professional experience in similar technologies and at least 4 years of recent, hands-on backend development with Node.js, AWS Lambda, and Python. Top skills required for this role include Node.js, AWS Lambda, and Python — candidates without strong, demonstrable experience in all three will not be considered. Additional required expertise includes JavaScript and TypeScript, building and consuming RESTful APIs that interface with enterprise systems, unit testing libraries, API testing tools, and Git-based version control. A solid understanding of Agile and iterative development methodologies is expected, along with strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Cloud & DevOps

Candidates must have a solid working knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and EC2. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, serverless architecture, and cloud-native application design is required.

Nice to Have

Exposure to GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Amazon Q is a plus, as is experience with performance tuning at both the application and database levels.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field required. Master's degree preferred.
