Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain monitoring tools and dashboards to ensure 24/7 availability of our services.

• Design and implement automated solutions for incident detection, response, and resolution.

• Collaborate with development and operations teams to identify and resolve issues.

• Integrate with various APIs (Spinnaker, PagerDuty, Git, DataDog, etc…) to create platform for continuous testing

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for operational tools.

• Create and execute automated tests using frameworks like Selenium or Cucumber to ensure tool quality and performance.

• Develop backend services and tools using Java or Scala.

• Integrate and manage incident response processes using PagerDuty.

• Create documentation and training materials for operational processes and tools.

• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities.

Proficiency in Java for backend development.

Experience with testing frameworks such as Selenium or Cucumber.

Experience building internal developer platforms.

Proficiency in AWS services (CloudWatch, Lambda, Step Functions, RDS, etc.).

Strong experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).

Knowledge of container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS).

Scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, etc.).

Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Github, Spinnaker).

Experience with incident management tools, specifically PagerDuty

Onsite Requirements

The candidate will work remotely most of the time. However, may need to go onsite from time to time for team events or meetings. They MUST be okay with being onsite at least 4 days a week if the requirement changes.

Experience: 5+ years with a BA is acceptable

Responsibilities

• Team Structure:

• Security Team Lead: Jonathan

• Role Transition: Initially for the security team, but may shift to the mobility team depending on workload

• Contract Details:

• Initial Length: 9 months

• Extension: Possible, with potential for conversion to full-time if the candidate performs well

• Location Requirements:

• Team: Fully distributed across the U.S.

• Lead Location: Jonathan is based in LA

• Time Zone Preference: Preferably in the PST time zone, but East Coast candidates are also welcome

• Office Requirement: May need to attend an annual in-person team event

• Tech Skill Breakdown:

• Backend (70% of work): Kotlin, Spring Boot, AWS

• Frontend (30% of work): TypeScript, React, Node.js

• Interview Process:

• Initial Interview: 30-minute chat with Jonathan (non-technical discussion)

• Second Round:

• 30-minute chat with the hiring manager (non-technical)

• 1.5-hour technical interview led by Jonathan

• Offer: Extended after the second round if the candidate is a good fit

• Platform Engineering Experience: Experience with internal-facing tools is a plus
