Splunk Enterprise Architecture, OpenTelemetry (OTel), Splunk Observability Cloud (SignalFx), Dynatrace/AppDynamics, Splunk Dashboard Studio, Telemetry & Data Ingestion Pipelines, Windows/Linux/AIX, Enterprise Observability, Distributed Tracing, CI/CD, DevOps, and 8+ years of Platform Engineering experience.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Splunk / Observability Platform Engineer to design, architect, and implement enterprise-scale observability solutions. This is a highly technical engineering role focused on building modern monitoring platforms and telemetry pipelines—not a traditional Splunk Administration, SOC, Security Analyst, or Data Analyst position.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience architecting enterprise observability platforms using Splunk technologies, OpenTelemetry, and cloud-native monitoring solutions. Candidates should be able to clearly explain architectural decisions, implementation strategies, and best practices during the interview process.
Required Skills
Expert-level experience with Splunk Enterprise Architecture
Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry (OTel)
Experience with Splunk Observability Cloud (SignalFx)
Experience with Dynatrace or AppDynamics
Experience designing and building enterprise telemetry and data ingestion pipelines
Strong experience with Splunk Dashboard Studio
Experience monitoring and supporting Windows, Linux, and AIX environments
Strong understanding of enterprise monitoring, observability, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing
Ability to architect scalable, high-availability observability platforms
Preferred Skills
Experience with LogicMonitor
Infrastructure automation and scripting experience
Experience integrating cloud and on-premise monitoring platforms
Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices
Key Responsibilities
Architect, design, and implement enterprise observability platforms using Splunk technologies.
Build scalable telemetry, logging, metrics, and tracing pipelines.
Design and develop advanced dashboards and monitoring solutions using Splunk Dashboard Studio.
Integrate OpenTelemetry instrumentation across enterprise applications.
Optimize platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
Collaborate with infrastructure, application, DevOps, and engineering teams to establish observability best practices.
Document architectural designs, standards, and implementation strategies.
Lead platform modernization initiatives and mentor engineering teams on observability practices.
Required Experience
8+ years of experience in Observability, Monitoring, or Platform Engineering.
Proven experience architecting enterprise-scale Splunk environments.
Strong hands-on experience implementing OpenTelemetry and modern observability platforms.
Experience designing enterprise monitoring strategies across Windows, Linux, and AIX environments.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to discuss architecture, design decisions, and implementation approaches during technical interviews.
