Position: Software Engineer II
Location: Irving, TX (8700 S Freeport Pkwy. #115, Irving, TX 75063 - (Fully Remote is fine)
Type: Contract (long term - 2+ years)
No Visa restrictions No h1 and opt
Software Engineer II with 3–5+ years experience in C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, Blazor, JavaScript frameworks, MS SQL, Entity Framework, and full-stack application development (retail/OMS/IMS experience a plus).
This position will be building solutions utilizing:

Nice to Have:
Someone from the retail industry
familiar with order management system software would be a plus
Inventory management system software
This position will be working with:
Product Information Group – Over our product inventory systems for the stores.
HCM Group – Over our Employee Management Systems
Kitchen Management System Group – Rewrite of the menu admin systems which runs on the kiosk and mobile app for customer orders.
Software Engineer II
Primary Purpose
The Software Engineer II is responsible for developing, modifying, testing, and supporting software applications following QuikTrip's Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The role includes troubleshooting, maintenance, documentation, and implementing improvements based on user feedback. Work is guided by established standards, instructions, and best practices.
Core Responsibilities
- Product Development & Engineering (85%)
Develop, modify, extend, and debug software in accordance with SDLC processes and QuikTrip coding standards.
Utilize strong knowledge of development tools, multiple programming languages, and complex database concepts.
Resolve technical software issues using strong customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Analyze incoming issues to determine root cause; develop technical or training solutions to reduce recurrence.
Document issues, resolutions, and user feedback in tracking systems; identify trends and propose improvements.
Create support documentation for troubleshooting, training, and process enhancements.
Forward customer feedback and suggestions for product improvement.
Occasional Product Technical Owner Responsibilities:
Ensure technical implementation aligns with architecture and development standards.
Maintain product quality, security, and performance across software, hardware, and database areas.
Plan product releases and manage technical debt/backlog.
Determine needed resources and skills per sprint and contribute to roadmap planning.
Collaborate with architecture teams on design consistency and exceptions.
Assist with user stories, bugs, work items, documentation, and technical diagrams.
Contribute directly to coding, reviews, testing, and working groups as needed.
Provide input to service management and ensure backlog items are properly logged and prioritized.
Coordinate delivery across development teams, resolving technical conflicts and ensuring accountability.
- Training & Development (10%)
Seek feedback on skill gaps and incorporate improvements into daily work.
Train with senior developers to strengthen technical capabilities and system knowledge.
Participate in professional development (self-study, workshops, online courses, seminars).
Support junior developers through mentoring, knowledge transfer, code review, and shadowing.
Stay current on industry best practices, tools, and technologies.
- Administration & Communication (5%)
Communicate clearly and professionally in verbal and written formats.
Provide timely status updates to project managers, leads, and customers.
Maintain accurate project documentation, time tracking, and task progress updates.
Collaborate effectively with team members and listen actively to feedback.

Reports to: Software Engineering Manager or Product Portfolio Manager

Position Requirements
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Coursework in one or more development languages used at QuikTrip
Preferred Education
Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
Required Experience
3–5 years of application development experience
Experience with system architecture and design
Preferred Experience
5+ years of professional development experience
Required Skills
Competent in both front-end and back-end development, including relational database development
Strong problem-solving ability and familiarity with IT concepts, practices, and procedures
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Effective time management
Preferred Skills
Experience with C#, .NET, HTML, JavaScript
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or similar technologies
