Role Overview: American Airlines is seeking a talented individual to join their diverse, high-performing team dedicated to technical excellence. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, deploying, managing, and maintaining software applications that support business processes and user needs. You will focus on delivering unrivaled digital products to drive a more reliable and profitable airline. Your role will involve writing, testing, and documenting technical work products, conducting root cause analysis, coaching team members, designing self-contained systems, and leading implementations of significant capabilities. You will also be responsible for ensuring reliability, resiliency, security, and performance of systems, defining test suites, mentoring teammates, and introducing new approaches to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities: - Write, test, and document technical work products according to organizational standards - Raise the quality and craftsmanship of products and systems - Conduct root cause analysis to identify and mitigate domain level problems - Design self-contained systems and lead implementations in existing systems - Coach team members in techniques to improve reliability, resiliency, security, and performance - Anticipate trouble areas in systems and guide the team in ensuring observability and supportability - Lead the identification of small batches of work to deliver high value quickly - Define test suites and instrumentation for consistent latency and availability in production - Evaluate potential attack surfaces and guide teams in implementing best practices - Prioritize closure of open vulnerabilities and advocate for reusability - Formally mentor teammates and guide them in learning journeys - Identify opportunities for introducing new approaches to problems Qualification Required: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training - 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments - Proficiency with programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, Javascript/Typescript - Experience with frameworks like Spring/SpringBoot, FastAPI, and front-end technologies like Angular/React - Familiarity with deployment technologies, source control, CI/CD, data management, integration/APIs technologies, cloud providers, and test automation - Ability to optimize solutions for performance, resiliency, and reliability while maintaining simplicity - Proficiency in object-oriented design, Agile methodologies, and DevOps Toolchain methodologies - Effective communication skills at all levels within the organization Company Details: American Airlines, along with its American Eagle regional partners, offers thousands of flights daily to more than 350 destinations in over 60 countries.
