Data Infrastructure Engineer

As a Data Engineer at Applix, you will play a crucial role in supporting the build and deployment of a recommendation system. Your primary responsibility will be to work with messy ERP, operations, shop-floor, logistics, pricing, and finance data to create reliable product infrastructure for optimization recommendations. ### Role Overview You will be responsible for owning the data foundation and collaborating closely with the Forward Deployed Engineer, Optimization Engineer, and customer IT/operations teams. Your tasks will include data extraction, cleaning, modeling, validation, and maintenance to ensure the optimization system is powered by accurate and high-quality data. ### Key Responsibilities - Own data extraction, ingestion, transformation, and quality for customer operational systems. - Build clean data pipelines from various systems including ERP, shop-floor databases, operational systems, spreadsheets, pricing feeds, logistics data, and finance reports. - Create reliable staging, curated, and analytics-ready tables for optimization and reporting. - Identify and close data gaps related to various operational parameters. - Build data quality checks and documentation for data dictionaries and lineage. - Support the Optimization Engineer with clean model inputs and refresh workflows for validation. - Collaborate with customer IT and business teams to address data-related issues and ensure consistency. ### Qualifications Required Must Haves - 37+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering. - Proficiency in SQL and Python. - Experience in building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with data warehouses. - Ability to model operational data and conduct data quality checks. - Strong ownership mindset and willingness to ensure data accuracy. Strong Plus - Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, ERP, or heavy equipment data. - Familiarity with Snowflake, Power BI, and orchestration tools. - Experience in integrating external data sources and supporting decision-making systems. - Comfort with various data integration methods and environments. ### Additional Company Details The Applix team expects you to map data sources, build clean pipelines, and support validation processes within the first few weeks. By week 6, your contributions should enable the team to evaluate recommendation performance effectively and identify areas for improvement.
