Job description Job Title: Packaging Engineer Position Type: Off Roll (CIEL HR Services 12 Months Renewable Basis) Location: Savli, Vadodara Experience: 3 to 6 Years Qualification: Bachelor's degree / B.E/ B.tech/Diploma Working Hours: General Shift Responsibility: 1. Packaging Development & Design Develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging concepts for products and components. Define and select suitable packaging materials, including corrugated boxes, tool cases, plastic bags, labels, inserts, tubes, and pallets. Create, review, and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, standards, and technical documentation in co- ordination within company's packaging team Design packaging solutions considering product protection, transportation conditions, storage requirements, and customer expectations. Support packaging localization and new product introduction (NPI) projects. 2. Validation & Quality Assurance Plan and conduct packaging performance testing, including: Drop testing Vibration testing Stacking/compression testing Transit testing Environmental testing Validate packaging against approved specifications, standards, and reference samples. Investigate packaging failures, transportation damages, and quality issues; implement corrective and preventive actions. Ensure packaging materials comply with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. 3. Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with packaging suppliers to develop, qualify, and continuously improve packaging materials and processes. Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Logistics, Quality, and Product Management teams. Support supplier audits, packaging assessments, and qualification activities. Drive packaging standardization across suppliers, manufacturing locations, and product families. Provide technical guidance during supplier onboarding and packaging development projects. 4. Cost & Sustainability Optimization Identify and implement packaging cost reduction and value engineering initiatives. Optimize material usage, packaging dimensions, and transportation efficiency. Improve pallet utilization, warehouse efficiency, and supply chain performance. Drive sustainability initiatives, including: Recyclable and reusable packaging Reduced plastic consumption Circular packaging concepts Waste reduction programs Support sustainability reporting and compliance requirements. 5. Documentation & Compliance Maintain packaging specifications, BOMs, change management records, and approval documents. Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, export regulations, and environmental regulations. Support packaging release approvals and production readiness activities. Manage engineering change requests related to packaging and coordinate implementation. Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills Strong knowledge of packaging materials: Corrugated packaging Paper-based packaging Plastics and foams Labels and adhesives Pallets and transport packaging Expertise in packaging testing and validation methodologies. Knowledge of logistics, transportation, warehousing, and supply chain requirements. Understanding of packaging standards and regulatory compliance.
