Onsite Job: Structural & Payload Design Engineer Level 4 Work Location: North Charleston, SC Shift: First, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Job Description:

Manage systems associated with interior of the airplane, along with the cargo compartments, exterior markings, and cabin safety.

Support customer configuration development, supplier engagement, validating and verifying design requirements, integrating business needs, and supporting the product through the production and certification processes.

Develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.

Guide product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.

Develop test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

Lead performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.

Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs and innovations to meet projected requirements.

Communicate professionally across multiple organizations and throughout all levels of leadership.

Must Haves:

Bachelor of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or STEM degree.

5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, design criteria and engineering release processes.

5+ years of experience with 3-D modeling (Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, SketchUp, Pro-E, 3DX, etc.) and/or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience.

Experience working within a cross-functional team.

Preferred :

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.

Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and critical thinking.

Structural analysis experience.

Experience with FEM analysis methods and software.

Working knowledge of standard business software (MS Office Suite).

Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.

Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.

Ability to meet plan delivery deadlines when assigned.

Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.

Experience with aircraft insulation systems or linings.

Experience supporting production and quality investigations.

Experience with supplier technical coordination.

Knowledge of Boeing production system and First Pass Quality processes.

Experience with corrective action development and implementation.

Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
