About the role
A Jira Expert (or Administrator) configures| manages| and optimizes Atlassian environments. They streamline workflows| automate processes| and integrate Jira with other developer or business tools.They act as a central Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ensure teams adhere to project management best practices.Core ResponsibilitiesSystem Administration: Manage user permissions| security schemes| global settings| and licensing across Jira Cloud| Server| or Data Center environmentsWorkflow Configuration: Customize and maintain complex workflows| issue types| screens| and fields to map to specific business needs.Automation & Scripting: Write and maintain automation rules| Jira Query Language (JQL)| and use apps like ScriptRunner (Groovy) to scale system functionalityIntegrations: Connect Jira with code repositories (e.g.| GitHub| Bitbucket)| CI/CD pipelines| and other internal enterprise tools via REST APIs.Reporting & Dashboards: Create custom reporting configurations and advanced dashboards to track team KPIs and project velocity. User Support & Training: Serve as the main point of contact for troubleshooting issues and conducting training sessions for technical and non-technical staff.Required QualificationsTechnical Depth: Expert-level knowledge of JQL| Jira Automation| and REST APIs. Experience with scripting languages like Groovy| Python| or Bash is highly valued.Methodologies: Strong practical understanding of Agile| Scrum| and Kanban frameworks.Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving| communication| and conflict-resolution abilities to translate business requirements into efficient| actionable system setups.
