AWS Linux Engineer

Softthink Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and result-oriented AWS Linux Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA to support our client project.

• Responsible for designing, building and administering a secure cloud platform based on industry standards, best practices and guidelines.

• Design and implementation of Public and private facing websites on AWS Cloud

• Migrate from on premise infrastructure to AWS.

• Deploy, automate, maintain and manage AWS cloud-based dev, test, stage, POC and Productions systems.

• Build, release and configuration management of production systems.

• Pre-production Acceptance Testing to help assure the quality of our products/services.

• System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains.

• Patching management, using Ansible tower every two months.

• Create/spin new EC2 instance with required application in requested AWS account.

• Create application ELB for reverse proxy.

• Manage security group, Tagging, port opening for internal and external applications.

• Create of different AWS services like API, RDS instance and Lambda to build a server less application.

• Create different S3 buckets and write Lambda to move files from S3 to instances and FTP server to S3.

• Create alerts for different services, extracting log data, and creating custom logs.

• Code-level application security (IAM roles, credentials, encryption.). General troubleshooting and debugging.

• Configured and Managed EC2, RDS, Cloud watch, Cloud Formation, S3 Buckets, VPC, VPN Security Groups, Cloud Trial, Elastic Load Balancer, Auto-scaling, Elastic Cache etc.

• Responsible for Security, including opening different ports on security groups and Network ACL’s.

• Configure different Notifications on AWS Services

• Advice development teams on designing and designing web interfaces and infrastructures that safely and efficiently power the cloud environment.

• Written few shell scripts to automate the tasks including taking backups

• written Unix Cron jobs to automate the tasks including storing the uploaded documents from Application to S3 Buckets

• Experience with orchestration and infrastructure automation using bash, python and yaml scripting to provision services, templates and packages.

• Attend daily stand-up meetings, bug-scrub meetings, Sprint planning meetings and Weekly release health check-up meetings as best practices of agile environment.

• Create AWS Config and built the tools to track the configuration changes and by setting the automatic Notifications using AWS SNS

• Management within EC2 / Elastic Load balancer for Elastic Search.

• Work AWS Command line Interface.

• Troubleshoot and fixing day-to-day problems related to the AWS Cloud.

• Hands on Migration Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x to RHEL 7.x.

• Responsible for Oracle database security and patching, Oracle database capacity analysis and planning.

• Extensive experience in studying existing infrastructure landscape, cloud product matching, design cloud architecture, Proof of Concepts, design improvements, cost Estimation and implementation of AWS Cloud Infrastructure recommending application migrations to public vs. private cloud.

• Work on AWS including EC2, VPC (NAT, VPC Peering and VPN), Identity and Access Manager (IAM), EC2 Container Service, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, CloudFront, Glacier, RDS, Dynamo DB, Elastic Cache, Direct Connect, Route 53, Cloud Watch, Cloud Formation, CloudTrail, OpsWorks, SNS, SES, SQS, SWF.

• Understand on building Infrastructure as code using AWS Cloud Formation.

• Work on different version control systems including GIT, SVN and PVCS

At our company and at our client’s company, an AWS Linux Engineer requires Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, information technology, or a combination of education and experience equating to the U.S. equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned subjects.
