Data Modeler

Softthink Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and result-oriented Data Modeler to join our team in Herndon, VA to support our client project.

• Part of the team responsible for the analysis, design and implementation of the business solution

• Involved in gathering user requirements along with Business Analysts.

• Analyze source systems to understand the data and create Logical Data Model.

• Worked closely with ETL Developers, Data Base Administrators and Analysts in creating dimensional data models.

• Built General Purpose Mart for Bank Analytics which contains facts and dimensions at higher level for all the available USAA bank products.

• Used Star Schema and Snow flake schema methodologies in building and designing the physical data model.

• Redefined many attributes and relationships in the model and cleansed unwanted tables/columns as part of Data Analysis responsibilities

• Identified and processed the Fact and Dimension tables

• Create Source to Target documents with all the information required for ETL Development.

• Worked closely with Data Base Administrators in selecting proper Distribution and Organization Keys for Netezza tables.

• Helped Developers in creating tables in BILAB environment.

• Worked with report developers for building Data Marts for ad hoc reporting

• Assisted end users, operations and testing teams by providing them with necessary information and documents

• Perform Gap Analysis to understand any missing requirements.

• Preparing the Modeling standards for Logical and Physical data Modeling Class words, Audit and Business Effective columns for bank General Purpose Mart.

• Working on an automation process through which developers can directly make changes to the database without the involvement of data modelers.

• Provide inputs to Testing teams on how to run the queries for accurate data retrieval.

• Work closely with Data Base Administrators in improving the performance of the queries.

At our company and at our client’s company, a Data Modeler requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, computer information system, information technology, or a combination of education and experience equating to the U.S. equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned subjects.
