Location: Oman Employment Type: Onsite Oman Full-Time Contract Experience: Minimum 7 Years Contract Duration: 24 Months Open Positions: 1 About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled IBM Power, IBM PowerVM, AIX, PowerVC & PowerSC Expert to manage, administer, and optimize enterprise IBM Power Systems infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in IBM Power technologies, AIX administration, virtualization, system security, workload migration, and high-availability environments. The role involves ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing IBM infrastructure while supporting mission-critical enterprise applications. Key Responsibilities IBM Power Systems Administration Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM Power Systems infrastructure. Manage IBM Power servers, Hardware Management Console (HMC), Virtual I/O Server (VIOS), and logical partitions (LPARs). Configure and administer IBM PowerVM virtualization environments. Perform system provisioning, resource allocation, and workload optimization. Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management. AIX Administration Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM AIX operating systems. Perform operating system patching, upgrades, security hardening, and performance tuning. Manage users, filesystems, storage, networking, and system resources. Troubleshoot operating system, hardware, and application-related issues. Virtualization & Cloud Management Deploy and manage IBM PowerVC for virtualization and cloud infrastructure management. Configure and manage virtual machines, resource pools, and virtual networking. Support workload migration between IBM Power environments. Optimize compute, storage, and virtualization performance. Security & Compliance Implement and administer IBM PowerSC security solutions. Apply system security policies, vulnerability remediation, and compliance controls. Perform regular security assessments and ensure adherence to organizational standards. Manage authentication, access control, auditing, and security monitoring. Monitoring & Performance Optimization Continuously monitor CPU, memory, storage, network, and system performance. Analyze performance metrics and recommend infrastructure improvements. Implement capacity planning and resource optimization strategies. Perform proactive health checks and preventive maintenance. Maintenance & Support Perform routine system maintenance, firmware upgrades, and hardware diagnostics. Coordinate component replacement and vendor support when required. Provide Level 3 technical support for infrastructure incidents and escalations. Support application and database teams in resolving infrastructure-related issues. Backup & Disaster Recovery Configure and maintain backup and recovery solutions for IBM Power environments. Administer VM Recovery Manager and disaster recovery processes. Participate in business continuity planning and disaster recovery testing. Ensure infrastructure resilience and rapid recovery capabilities. Documentation & Collaboration Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration records, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures. Document infrastructure changes following change management processes. Collaborate with infrastructure, database, application, storage, and network teams to deliver integrated enterprise solutions. Coordinate with IBM support and third-party vendors for issue resolution and system maintenance. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems infrastructure. Strong expertise in: IBM Power Systems IBM PowerVM IBM AIX IBM PowerVC IBM PowerSC VIOS HMC LPAR Management PEP 2.0 VM Recovery Manager Workload Migration Experience with enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Experience supporting mission-critical production environments.
