Role:Technical Release Manager
Location: St Louis, Charlotte, Denver ,Shift: M-F 8-5 hybrid (3 days in, 2 remote) Duration: 6 Months
Top needs: Understanding of Release Lifecycle – technical systems analysis background Web APIs, Jenkins, Tableau Ability to speak to Web APIs, understand release branch process, and ultimately determine if builds are ready via Jenkins.
Full overview: This is a technical role. Understands the release lifecycle but also has a technical systems analysis background. Leadership is peeling away a lot of release communications from the leader of release management and are now bringing the responsibility into the product team. The individual will be more of a "UI Admin" type and able to speak technical release management concepts. This improved communication will then close the gap to prevent prolonged release cycles. Technical release manager / system analyst. Regardless of job title, individual will have experience being embedded in a software development team and owning the release and deployment as it relates to the Ordering Product team. technical experience with Web APIs, Jenkins, Tableau, Cherwell. From a technical perspective, this person will be able to read (not necessarily write) code. Ability to speak to Web APIs, understand release branch process, and ultimately determine if builds are ready via Jenkins. Occasionally need to monitor or check systems logs in lower environments. If Builds are not ready, they could revert to a Mock. If build is ready, this individual will advice on “pulling the trigger” to go live (into Prod). Technical environment includes Java, Netflix, Mongo, Spring Boot, Console --> moving towards Containers, Kubernetes, and assessing AWS. Team uses SharePoint and Cherwell ticketing system to track code as it is promoted across environments. Pertinent Team Dynamics: Team has a Project Coordinator responsible for managing release schedules and coordinating releases with business partners. There are approximately 20 Devs across 2 teams. They also have a CAB and small, specialized team dedicated to the larger Release Epic. This new hire will compliment these individuals and serve as the technical SME focused on release and deployment specific to the product team. The goal is to prevent prolonged release cycles.
