Registered Professional Land Surveyor Location: Childress, TX Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) to lead and oversee land surveying activities in support of structural and civil engineering projects. This position requires a licensed surveyor who can manage field operations, supervise survey crews, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide accurate survey data for engineering, construction, and land development projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical surveying expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure successful project execution. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and oversee land surveying projects from initiation through completion.

Conduct and supervise boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.

Direct survey crews and ensure accurate field data collection using Total Stations, GPS equipment, and related surveying instruments.

Perform construction staking and site layout activities to support ongoing projects.

Prepare, review, and certify survey plats, legal descriptions, maps, and reports.

Verify survey calculations, field measurements, and project documentation for accuracy and compliance.

Collaborate with engineers, contractors, developers, and clients to clarify project requirements and resolve field issues.

Maintain survey records, project files, and digital data management systems.

Ensure compliance with applicable state regulations, surveying standards, and safety requirements.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior survey staff and field crews.

Evaluate and implement improvements in surveying procedures, technology, and workflows.

Required Qualifications Current Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) license in the State of Texas, or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.

Strong experience in land surveying, boundary surveys, construction surveying, and engineering support surveys.

Proven experience performing and managing topographic surveys for site development and infrastructure projects.

Proficiency with Total Stations, GPS equipment, data collectors, and related surveying technology.

Experience conducting building surveys, as-built documentation, and site layout work.

Knowledge of survey standards, legal descriptions, property boundaries, easements, and applicable state and local regulations.

Familiarity with survey drafting and data processing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar platforms.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in varying outdoor field conditions and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience supporting civil, structural, transportation, or land development projects.

  • Strong leadership experience managing survey crews and project schedules.

  • Knowledge of emerging survey technologies, including GPS/GNSS and drone-assisted surveying applications.
