About the role
About the internship: Eligibility: B.E./B.Tech (Graduating in 2027) Disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related branches. About Gray Gray is building the next generation of intelligent commercial electric vehicles for emerging markets. Our mission is to develop highly efficient, software-defined commercial mobility platforms that deliver superior safety, reliability, uptime and total cost of ownership. As a Simulation Engineering Intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers on real vehicle development programs from concept through validation. Your work will directly influence the design of production-ready commercial EV platforms. What You'll Work On -You will support simulation and virtual validation activities across vehicle, subsystem and component levels -CAE (Structural & Durability) -Structural analysis of vehicle chassis, battery enclosure, body structures and brackets. -Static, modal, fatigue and durability simulations. -Stiffness optimization and lightweighting studies. -Design validation using finite element analysis. -Correlation of simulation results with physical testing. -CFD (Thermal & Flow Analysis) -Battery thermal management simulations. -Cooling airflow analysis for battery, motor and power electronics. -Cabin HVAC airflow and thermal comfort studies. -Underbody airflow and thermal investigations. -Water ingress and ventilation studies where applicable. -1-D System Simulation -Vehicle longitudinal performance simulation. -Energy consumption and range prediction. -Drive cycle analysis. -Motor, inverter and battery system modelling. -Cooling system performance modelling. -Regenerative braking studies. -Vehicle performance optimization. -Powertrain sizing and architecture trade-off studies. -Full Vehicle Simulation -Vehicle performance prediction. -Gradeability and acceleration analysis. -Energy management studies. -Mission-based vehicle simulations. -Parameter sensitivity and optimization. -System-level trade-off analysis. Tools You'll Use -Altair HyperMesh -Altair OptiStruct -Altair MotionSolve -Altair HyperView -Altair AcuSolve (preferred) -MATLAB -Simulink -Simscape -Microsoft Excel -Python (preferred) -Exposure to ANSYS, GT-SUITE, AVL Cruise, Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM or similar simulation tools is an added advantage. Desired Skills -Strong understanding of engineering mechanics. -Fundamentals of finite element analysis. -Basics of computational fluid dynamics. -Vehicle dynamics fundamentals. -Heat transfer and thermodynamics. -Strength of materials. -Machine design fundamentals. -Electric vehicle fundamentals. -Data analysis and engineering calculations. -Ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD models. -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
