About the role
About the internship: About Gray Gray is building intelligent commercial electric vehicles for mission-critical mobility. We are developing next-generation electric ambulances, cargo vans, and commercial vehicle platforms that combine world-class mechanical engineering with advanced software and AI. We are looking for builders not just designers. If you enjoy spending more time in the workshop than in the classroom, we'd love to meet you. What You'll Do 1. Build and assemble prototype vehicles, battery packs, and mechanical systems. 2. Fabricate, modify, and fit mechanical components for rapid prototyping. 3. Support vehicle integration, testing, troubleshooting, and design iterations. 4. Operate workshop equipment safely and efficiently. 5. Assist in machining, fabrication, welding, drilling, grinding, cutting, and finishing operations. 6. Work closely with design engineers to convert CAD into working hardware. 7. Support supplier development, prototype manufacturing, and production builds. 8. Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and documentation. Who Should Apply 1. B.E./B.Tech students graduating in 2027. 2. Preferred branches: Mechanical, Production, Mechatronics, Automobile, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Other closely related disciplines Must-Have Experience You should have actually built something, not just designed it. Examples include: -Electric vehicle (Formula Student, BAJA Electric, Go-kart, SAE, etc.) -Battery pack development -Electric powertrain -Motor integration -Vehicle chassis or suspension -Automotive prototype -Robotics or heavy electromechanical systems Please mention your role and contributions in your application. Required Skills & Experience -Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly and prototype fabrication. -Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. -Knowledge of workshop practices, safety standards, and mechanical troubleshooting. -Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments. -Understanding of fastener selection and torque application. -Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. -Hands-on Experience With Drilling, Grinding, Tapping, Cutting, Bench fitting, Welding (MIG/TIG/Arc preferred), Lathe operations, Milling machine operations, Band saw operation, Sheet metal fabrication, Basic machining, Hand and power tools Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have) -Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, NX, or Fusion 360. -Basic understanding of Electric Vehicle (EV) architecture. -Knowledge of battery pack assembly. -Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles. -Understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM/DFA concepts. -Exposure to 3D printing technologies. -Basic knowledge of CNC machining.
