About the role
About the internship: Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include: 1. Assist in the design and development of chassis components and systems, including frame structures, suspension mounting points, and load-bearing elements. 2. Support Cell-to-Chassis (C2C) and skateboard platform development activities. 3. Create CAD models and perform simulations using software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX (UG NX). 4. Assist in testing and validating chassis designs to ensure compliance with industry safety standards and performance requirements. 5. Support material selection and analysis for weight optimization, durability, and cost efficiency. 6. Prepare and maintain design documentation, including CAD drawings, technical reports, and engineering specifications. 7. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulations to evaluate the structural performance of chassis components under various loading conditions. 8. Assist in prototype assembly and physical testing of chassis components and systems. 9. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineering teams to integrate chassis systems with other vehicle subsystems. 10. Participate in brainstorming and problem-solving sessions to develop innovative chassis design solutions. 11. Identify opportunities for design improvements, cost reduction, and weight optimization. 12. Coordinate with testing and certification agencies, including ICAT and ARAI, for vehicle certification activities. BE/B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or Automobile Engineering with 0–2 years of experience in chassis and mechanical design. 2. Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including stress analysis, materials science, and structural dynamics. 3. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX (UG NX), with basic knowledge of FEA tools. 4. Familiarity with automotive systems and chassis architecture. 5. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. 6. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality in design work. 7. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Design, Development, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain. 8. Strong communication and presentation skills. 9. Good technical decision-making abilities. 10. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. 11. Experience in SAE BAJA is an added advantage.
