Job Title: Java Developer (Mid-Level) — Dallas, TX Overview: We are seeking a Java Developer with ~5 years of experience to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs. You will work closely with product, QA, DevOps, and other engineers to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performance software used in customer-facing and internal enterprise applications. Location & Work Mode: Dallas, Texas (Hybrid). This role requires regular onsite collaboration in our Dallas office with flexibility for remote work on select days. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java (11/17+) and Spring Boot, focusing on scalability and maintainability. Implement data access layers and optimize queries using JPA/Hibernate and SQL for relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle). Build event-driven integrations using messaging/streaming platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ. Write clean, testable code with strong unit/integration test coverage using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Spring Test/Testcontainers. Participate in code reviews, propose refactoring plans, and enforce engineering standards (SOLID, clean architecture, secure coding). Collaborate with DevOps to containerize and deploy services using Docker and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI). Monitor and troubleshoot production issues using logs/metrics/traces (e.g., ELK, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry), and perform root-cause analysis. Contribute to agile ceremonies (planning, daily standups, retrospectives), estimating work, and mentoring junior developers. Required Skills & Experience: 5+ years of professional Java development experience (Java 8+; preference for Java 11/17). Strong Spring ecosystem experience: Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security. Hands-on experience building microservices and REST APIs; familiarity with API versioning and OpenAPI/Swagger. Solid SQL skills and experience with relational databases; understanding of indexing, query optimization, and transactions. Testing expertise with JUnit, Mockito, integration testing patterns; understanding of TDD/BDD is a plus. Experience with Git and CI/CD; ability to troubleshoot build and deployment issues. Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and deployment environments (Kubernetes preferred). Understanding of security best practices (OAuth2/JWT, OWASP Top 10) and performance tuning (profiling, caching). Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Preferred certifications include Oracle Certified Professional: Java SE, AWS Certified Developer – Associate, or Spring Professional Certification.
