Redis Platform Engineer – Austin, TX (Onsite, Contract)
About the Role
Join a forward-thinking Platform Engineering team as a Redis Platform Engineer in Austin, TX. Drive the reliability and performance of mission-critical data services that power multiple enterprise applications. This is an onsite, 12+ month contract role offering hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technologies like Kubernetes, Redis, and automation tools. Responsibilities

Operate, support, and maintain Redis and caching services across virtual machines and Kubernetes clusters

Install, configure, and troubleshoot Redis instances and connected caching components
-
Deploy and manage workloads in Kubernetes using Helm charts
-
Monitor system and cache performance, respond to alerts, and escalate issues as necessary
-
Execute runbooks for upgrades, patching, and ongoing maintenance
-
Contribute to automation projects using Ansible and scripting
-
Collaborate with team members to resolve platform, application, and caching issues
-
Maintain clear documentation for systems, procedures, and troubleshooting
-
Required Skills and Experience
-
Solid background in Linux system administration
-
Hands-on experience with virtual machines or server environments
-
Working knowledge of Kubernetes concepts (pods, services, deployments)
-
Exposure to Ansible for configuration management and automation
-
Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
-
Understanding of caching fundamentals (key-value stores, cache invalidation, performance optimization)
-
Strong troubleshooting ability and eagerness to learn new technologies

Excellent teamwork and communication skills
-
Availability to work onsite in Austin, TX, 5 days a week

Preferred Skills

Practical experience with Redis or similar in-memory/caching technologies

Experience deploying Kubernetes applications using Helm

Familiarity with monitoring or logging tools

Awareness of basic performance tuning and scalability practices

Relevant coursework, certifications, or internships in IT or software engineering
