US | Engineer II – Aurora PostgreSQL & AWS Database Automation (Remote, US)
About the Role
Join a dynamic team as an Engineer II focused on managing and optimizing large-scale Aurora PostgreSQL environments on AWS. In this fully remote role, you will independently drive database projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and leverage automation to streamline support and maintenance tasks. Responsibilities

Manage, support, and optimize Aurora PostgreSQL database environments at scale

Automate database build and support tasks across PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MS SQL using modern tools

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database instances within AWS infrastructure
-
Implement robust database security, backup, recovery, and redundancy strategies
-
Drive performance tuning and SQL optimization initiatives
-
Develop automation scripts (Shell, Python) and leverage Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins for self-healing processes
-
Lead projects and tasks independently, ensuring timely delivery and risk mitigation
-
Collaborate closely with AWS, application support, and infrastructure teams
-
Participate in an on-call rotation to support production incidents

Maintain alignment with best practices in Incident, Problem, and Change Management

Required Skills and Experience
-
5+ years of hands-on database engineering experience, with at least 3 years specializing in PostgreSQL
-
Proven track record managing large-scale Aurora PostgreSQL environments on AWS
-
Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud technologies and infrastructure
-
Deep expertise in database performance tuning, SQL rewriting, and optimization
-
Proficiency in automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins
-
Strong skills in Shell and Python scripting for process automation

Experience with database partitioning, backup, and recovery in complex environments
-
Solid understanding of Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems

Preferred Skills

AWS Certification (a plus)

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience

Experience with additional database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL)

Strong analytical, documentation, and independent research abilities
