This position is crucial as the individual will be responsible for developing and implementing automated solutions that minimize manual testing efforts while ensuring product reliability. A seasoned professional in this capacity combines strong technical skills with a deep understanding of software development processes, enabling cross-functional collaboration to foster a culture of automation. As part of the engineering team, the Senior Automation Engineer will work closely with developers, product managers, and quality assurance teams to identify testing requirements and design robust automation frameworks. Their expertise will not only improve testing accuracy and speed but will also contribute to a significant reduction in time-to-market for software releases, placing the organization at a competitive advantage. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and frameworks for testing applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and clarify testing objectives. Analyze and understand the application's architecture to derive optimal automation approaches. Create detailed test plans, test scenarios, and automated test cases based on functional specifications. Conduct code reviews of automation scripts to ensure adherence to best practices. Identify bottlenecks in the testing processes and recommend solutions for improvement. Execute automated tests and report findings to the development team. Evaluate new automation tools and technologies to enhance existing frameworks. Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline for continuous testing and deployment. Support manual testing efforts as needed and transition manual tests to automated tests. Monitor and maintain automated test environments, ensuring their availability and reliability. Document automation processes, scripts, and testing methodologies for future reference. Mentor junior engineers on automation best practices and efficient coding techniques. Participate in troubleshooting production issues and provide recommendations for fixes. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in testing tools and automation technologies. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing, with a focus on automation. Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript). Hands-on experience with automation testing tools like Selenium, Appium, or similar. Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices. Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies. Experience with version control systems, e.g., Git, SVN, or similar. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently as needed. Strong communication skills to effectively convey testing strategies and results. Experience with performance testing tools is an advantage. Knowledge of API testing and service virtualization is a plus. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines. Experience mentoring or leading junior staff is preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills and technical acumen. Certifications in Quality Assurance or Automation Testing are a plus.
