Overview The Senior Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing the software development lifecycle by implementing and improving automation processes. This position is vital for ensuring the quality, efficiency, and reliability of software applications. The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing automated tests, maintaining test scripts, and working collaboratively with Development and QA teams to enhance the overall quality assurance process. The engineer will engage in various stages of automation starting from analysis, design, and implementation to monitoring and optimizing existing automation frameworks. Additionally, they will mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring that automation efforts align with business goals and deliver substantial improvements in development speed and product quality. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks for testing applications. Create robust, repeatable test cases for functional, regression, and performance testing. Work closely with developers to analyze requirements and identify automation opportunities. Implement continuous integration pipelines to enhance deployment velocity. Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members. Develop and execute automated test scripts using various tools and technologies. Analyze test failures and provide detailed reports to the relevant teams. Optimize existing automation processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness. Mentor junior automation engineers and conduct training sessions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation into all stages of the software development lifecycle. Stay updated on industry best practices and tools in automation testing. Document automation procedures, frameworks, and best practices for reference. Participate in sprint planning and provide input on automation efforts. Facilitate agile ceremonies to align automation objectives with team goals. Coordinate with DevOps and IT teams for environment setup and configuration. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in software automation engineering or related roles. Strong knowledge of automation tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar. Proficient in scripting languages like Python, Java, or JavaScript. Experience with continuous integration tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or SVN. Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and tools. Experience in performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner is a plus. Knowledge of database management and SQL for backend testing. Experience with Agile methodologies and software development processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality. Willingness to learn new technologies and tools as necessary.
